Kristy Mullen, LSW

Position: Mental Health Practitioner & Referral Specialist for Wadena County Schools

Department: Children and Families Division- School based

Location: Sebeka School

I was hired with Northern Pines in 2016 and have been a skills provider at Sebeka School since the fall of 2018.

I am trained in A-TIP (Acute Traumatic Incident Processing) and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer).

Working in School-based Mental Health, I can work with any school-aged child, typically 6-17 years old. I’ve provided skills to kids as young as kindergarten and as old as 12th grade.

As a Skills provider, I love getting to work with kids and having fun with them while also teaching skills that will help them in all areas of life. I also have found that even though I know the skills I am teaching to my clients, I am also continuing to learn with them and improving my own mental health.

As the Referral Specialist for Wadena County schools, I enjoy assisting parents/guardians to open their child(ren) into mental health services, being the first person to reach out to them and guide them through the process of setting up our services.

I like many things about working with Northern Pines, but my top likes are that I am able to have a flexible schedule, I have supervisors and directors who support and advocate for their staff, and also having close, supportive coworkers is a bonus.

I love playing with my pets, listening to and playing music, arts and crafts, and hanging out with my husband, my 4 sisters, and parents. I also am a bit of a foodie; I enjoy baking desserts, watching Holiday Baking Competitions, and I seize every opportunity to have pasta.
