Co-Occurring Outpatient Treatment

Northern Pines Substance Use Disorder Service (SUDS) is designed to provide
Co-Occurring outpatient treatment to adults who have substance use disorder(s) and also mental health concerns.

Evidence based research indicates that a successful recovery for Co-Occurring clients involves an interdisciplinary team offering both substance use and mental health simultaneously, in the same setting, rather than trying to treat both issues as separate problems with different providers.

The client is seen as an active partner in the development of their treatment goals.

We offer Substance Use Recovery Services at:
> Brainerd Clinic
> Wadena Clinic
> Little Falls Clinic
> Walker Clinic (Coming Soon)

Relapse Prevention/Recovery Group

We know that re-entering daily life is a challenge. Without the right support system to help you handle the challenges, your chance of relapse is higher.

NPMH SUDS Relapse Prevention/Recovery Group helps you identify triggers and high-risk situations that could lead to relapse. Healthy recovery involves a prevention strategy from detox through every stage of your recovery.

Our staff will support you in your development of skills to manage your cravings and triggers in all situations. Effective coping skill development can defend against high-relapse situations, such as:

  • Being around drugs or alcohol
  • Cravings for substances
  • Suffering from mental health symptoms
  • High Stress situations
  • Pressure from friends/family to return to use

Group format 1x per week for 2  hours in-person with individual sessions that can be telehealth or in-person depending on client need and/or location.

Comprehensive Assessments

We use comprehensive assessments (formerly called Rule 25) to determine the level of care needed. These assessments are often referred by the court or to satisfy probation. During your assessment, a LADC (Licensed Alcohol/Drug Counselor) will identify problem areas and make recommendations, which may or may not suggest substance use treatment.

Weekly Drug/Alcohol Testing

Drug testing is provided on-site by an independent agency on group days.
Specimen collectors are trained to witness samples.

The Adolescent Program is co-edand offered to ages 13-17 at our Brainerd location. This program promotes education on substance use, healthy recreation, family dynamics, and positive coping skills to deal with challenges.
